Building Private Sector Participation in Regional Seed Trade Initiatives

24 April 2012
On February 16, the Southern Africa National Seed Organization (SANSOR) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SATH to advance current and future regional food security challenges through the use of the seed system as a tool to achieve growth and capacity in selected value chains.

By recognizing that science-based information about seed and seed systems will impact on growth from evidence based support systems, SANSOR is keen to share its own experiences by increasing its outreach into the region through cooperation with SATH. The two organizations aim to share information and practices that will support and benefit the regional seed industry through advancing the distribution of quality seed and the application of technology.

SANSOR represents the South African Seed Trade, promotes industry interests and serves its members through existing programs. The collaboration with SATH will focus on activities that will support mentorship for public private partners in the region as well as utilize expertise among its membership to strengthen SANSOR’s role as a regional service provider.
