Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist

Lawrence Kubanga is the Southern Africa Trade Hub Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist. In his position Lawrence will oversee the design and management of SATH M&E activities, including development and implementation of M&E plans, data collection tools, analysis and reporting. He will be the key M&E resource to guide the team to measure, highlight and report project results including commissioning and managing SATH evaluations.

Prior to joining SATH, Lawrence worked as a Communications Advisor for Kelar Consults, a Research and Communications Consultancy based in Gaborone, Botswana. Sub-contracting with various companies, he conducted evaluations and wrote reports for UNFPA, PEPFAR OVC- Botswana, BOTUSA, Botswana International Financial Services Centre, Ministry of Finance and Development Planning- Botswana etc. Lawrence has also worked in civil society organizations in the HIV/AIDS or public health sector. He managed HIV Prevention programs, Orphans and Vulnerable Children programs, HIV Counseling and Testing with EFB and BOCAIP. He undertook a number of Monitoring and Evaluation short courses and has worked as a private consultant for Academy for Educational Development- Botswana to do Process Evaluations with their grantees. Lawrence has also tutored in the Department of English at the University of Botswana.

Lawrence holds Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Botswana, an International diploma in Teaching and Training from City and Guilds, a Master of Arts in Development Studies from the University of Botswana, Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation from Institute of Business Management, Botswana. He is currently reading for a Law degree at the University of South Africa. His areas of interest include rural livelihoods, poverty reduction, Development policy analysis, HIV/AIDS research, and International law.
