Tomasz Iwanow
Trade Economist
Tomasz Iwanow is the USAID Southern Africa Trade Hub's Trade Economist.
A development economist by training, with particular focus on the issues of international trade, Tomasz has more than 8 years of experience in academic research, consultancy and as a government economist in Lesotho. Prior to joining the SATH he worked for several years as a researcher at the University of Manchester and University of Sussex in the United Kingdom on projects aimed at assessing the impact of regional integration. Thereafter he moved to join the Regional Integration Directorate at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Lesotho as part of the Overseas Development Institute's Fellowship scheme. At the Ministry he worked primarily on issues related to Lesotho's participation in regional and multilateral trade Agreements.
Tomasz is in the final stages of completion his PhD at the University of Manchester. His academic interests are related to determinants of industrialization in developing countries, the impact of institutions and business climate and the effectiveness of aid.
