Godwin Punungwe
Senior Transport and Trade Facilitation Advisor
Godwin Punungwe is Senior Transport and Trade Facilitation Advisor at the USAID Southern Africa Trade Hub. Godwin has been at the Hub since April 2008, when he joined as Transport Advisor.
Godwin boasts more than twenty-five years experience in transport and trade facilitation at national, regional and international level.
He worked for the National Railways of Zimbabwe in progressively senior position from 1980 to 1992. Between 1992 and 2000 he served as the Surface Transport Specialist/Railway Expert in Maputo at the Southern Africa Transport and Communications Technical Unit (SATCC-TU) of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). From July 2000 to November 2004 he was the RAPID Project Manager at the USAID Regional Centre for Southern Africa (RCSA) in Gaborone where he managed one of the USAID/RCSA's largest (US$38m), most complex, cross-cutting, multi-sectoral projects which involved the full range of consultative, advisory, monitoring, data collection and evaluation responsibilities.
Between December 2004 and April 2008 Godwin Punungwe was engaged by the African Development Bank (AfDB) as a Long Term Infrastructure Consultant to the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) Secretariat as the latter's Transport Advisor.
Godwin holds an Honors Degree in Bachelor of Business Studies from the University of Zimbabwe, a Master of International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management and a Master of Policy Studies from the University of Fort Hare; and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Transport.
