SATH Internships

Internships are available year round and opportunities generally run for 2-3 months. Specific internship opportunities will be posted here, but we accept unsolicited applications from qualified students.

Work assigned to an intern varies by assignment but includes research, writing, drafting documents, facilitating events, attending project events and communicating project activities. Interns are included in internal and external meetings for discussions about project activities. Areas of study which may benefit from a SATH internship include:

  • Economics
  • Business and marketing
  • Political Science and Policy studies
  • Energy and renewable resources
  • International law
  • Agriculture
  • Statistics
  • Investment
  • Geography
  • Public Administration
  • Development studies

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate or post-graduate program, or a junior/senior level undergraduate program, and will be returning to studies upon complete of the internship.
  • In good academic standing.
  • Be willing to intern on a full-time basis five days a week.
  • Capable of working with a diverse team of staff and organizations.
  • Have a strong desire to support trade and integration in developing countries.
  • Flexibility, initiative, enthusiasm, good interpersonal skills and lots of energy.
  • Computer skills are required.
  • Be of sound mental and physical health.
  • Able to be discreet and keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and not to publish any reports or papers based on such information.

Gaborone, Botswana

Round trip travel to Gaborone, Botswana, and medical coverage are borne by the intern.

You may be eligible to receive academic credit from your university for the internship and should research the academic credit policy for internships.

Note students outside Botswana require a permit to undertake an internship in country. Details on the documents needed for the permit will be provided if an offer is made.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, statement of intent, resume and proof of enrollment from your university. The statement of intent should discuss your interests in SATH program areas and indicate how the internship fits into your career goals. The resume should include 2-3 references that will be checked.

Candidates selected and offered an internship will be required to sign an agreement with SATH outlining the details of the internship.

Previous Interns

All interns will be encouraged to enhance and share their experience by taking photos and writing articles for their university or local news. SATH will provide space on their website and social networks where interns can share their experience.
