Standards
Ensuring verifiable standards for food and other agricultural products will promote increased food security and enhance the ability of the region to compete in international markets. We will focus on the SPS constraints to growth along the prioritized value chains and supporting SADC in the implementation of the Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Annex to the SADC Protocol on Trade.
Using a demand-driven approach, we will determine priority areas for assistance by working with the SADC Secretariat and with credible influential private sector, chambers of commerce and key women’s associations. As it is established, we anticipate working with the SADC Secretariat to build the capacity of the SADC SPS Coordinating Committee.
